FAQs:

Q: What is body sugaring?
Originating in Ancient Egypt, body sugaring is a unique form of hair removal using a 100% natural sugar paste consisting of sugar, lemon, and water. The sugar is applied against the direction of hair growth and removed by the follicle with a flicking motion in the direction of growth. This technique gently exfoliates the skin by removing dead skin cells, and significantly reduces hair breakage resulting in finer hair regrowth. Our sugar paste and technique is safe for all skin types and delicate areas, even the most sensitive!
Q: Is sugaring eco-friendly?
All Sugar of the Nile products that Sugar Boutique uses are eco-friendly, including their surface disinfectants and tool immersion solutions. All products contain 100% natural and organic ingredients, are paraben free, not tested on animals, and are vegan. Regularly scheduled sugaring appointments also reduce waste by eliminating your need to buy expensive razors, shaving cream, wax, and wax strips.
Q: How long does my hair need to be for best results?
Sugar paste can remove short hair 1/16 of an inch (2mm) in length, however, hair should be 1/4 of an inch long for best results.

Q: What is your pre and post sugar care advice?
I recommend you avoid exfoliating your skin the day before and day of your appointment - the sugar paste will gently exfoliate your skin for you. For best results, you should also avoid using scented creams, lotions, and deodorant (if having your underams sugared), and anything that causes perspiration (gym, hot tub, sauna, sports etc) before and after your appointment.

Q: Does sugaring hurt as much as waxing and threading?

The sugar paste is not hot so it will not burn or scar your skin like hot wax. It depends on your pain tolerance, but most people find body sugaring significantly less painful than waxing and threading, mostly because the paste only adheres to dead skin cells as opposed to wax which adheres to live cells as well.

Q: How can I prevent ingrown hairs?
The best way to prevent ingrown hairs is to moisturize regularly and exfoliate. Use a natural bristle exfoliating brush or cloth at least 3-4 times a week to remove dead skin cells that trap new hair under the skin.

Q: Is it normal to have bumpy, red, and itchy skin after a sugaring appointment?
It is perfectly normal to experience temporary redness, warmth, or itchiness for up to 24 hours after a sugaring treatment.  Most clients find the after care toner and lotion help soothe the skin, however, a cool compress will also help alleviate any discomfort.

Q: What is a Classic Bikini service?

A classic bikini service cleans up the top and sides of the panty line, but not the hair on the labia or between the cheeks.
